Initial Referral
Whether you reached out to MCO Healthcare directly or were referred by a social services department, we approach your situation with care and confidentiality. If you were referred by social services, the department will have already assumed financial responsibility and shared relevant information with us. Before we begin providing services, we will speak with you, and if applicable, your caregiver, as well as the social services department, to ensure our services are appropriate and suited to your needs.
Assessing the Need
If you’ve come to us directly, we’ll conduct our own assessment. If you were referred by a local authority care manager, they will have already carried out a needs assessment. In either case, we gather important information about your needs, including input from your caregiver, doctor, and any relevant specialists. Our team of professionals, who are specially trained to handle these sensitive matters, will guide you through the process. The aim is to create a comprehensive understanding of your needs without making the process feel intrusive.
Assessing the Risks
Receiving care in your own home comes with some risks, as it may not offer the same level of support as a residential home. However, it allows you to maintain your independence. At MCO Healthcare, we want to ensure that you understand any potential risks involved and that they are reasonable. Together, we’ll assess the risks and explore ways to minimize unnecessary dangers to ensure your care remains both safe and comfortable.
Service User Plan
Once your needs and risks are assessed, we collaborate with you and your caregiver to create a tailored service plan. This plan details the care services we will provide, including the timing of visits, specific tasks to be carried out, and the overall goals of the care plan. We work closely with you to ensure that every aspect of the plan meets your preferences and expectations.
Reassessing Needs and Reviewing Care
As time passes, your needs may change. You may require more or less care, or different types of support. At MCO Healthcare, we regularly reassess your needs and adjust the care plan accordingly. If you ever feel the need to make changes, we are here to listen and adapt the care services to suit your evolving needs.
Safeguarding
The safety of our service users is always a priority. We comply with all legal safeguarding requirements and work closely with the local Safeguarding Adults Board and the Care Quality Commission to ensure that every individual in our care is protected from harm.
Quality Assurance
To ensure that we are delivering the highest quality of care, we continuously evaluate our services through various feedback channels. These include annual visits by a supervisor to hear directly from service users, regular supervision meetings with care workers, and an annual survey that gathers feedback from service users and their families.
We take pride in our thorough internal quality assurance processes. Our staff undergoes rigorous checks, including DBS and Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults checks, and they receive comprehensive training on essential topics such as manual handling, disease control, life support, fire safety, and medication administration.
Ongoing Monitoring
MCO Healthcare also monitors the performance of our staff through regular audits, random checks, and supervision. We comply with the Care Standards Act, the Regulation of Care Act, and all National Framework Guidelines to ensure that our care services meet the highest standards.
