FAQs

It’s natural to have questions when you’re exploring a new career or applying for a new job. Have a read of some of the frequently asked questions we receive from our applicants and new recruits.

I don’t have any experience in care, can I apply?

Absolutely, experience is not essential as we offer extensive training and development to all of our people, no matter their background.

If I am successful at interview stage what happens next?

Your Manager will contact you within a few days to arrange an induction subject to compliance and talk you through next steps.

What initial training will I receive?

You will be invited to attend a five day induction course at our offices or one of our training partners before you start work with a client. Successful completion of our induction course is mandatory; it ensures that you’re comfortable with your role and competent in the skills you need to deliver excellent care to our clients.

How long will my employment checks take?

There are a number of checks that we have to make as part of the recruitment process, e.g. your right to work, and criminal record check (DBS). We aim to complete all checks within 14 days; however this time can vary, as we are reliant on working with external parties such as the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

When will I get my rota?

You will receive your first rota on completion of the induction course.

What will I be doing on my first day of work?

This will vary from client to client, but in general you will be working with the rest of your team, clients or family members, who will guide you to understand daily routines and requirements, as well as tasks that are required throughout a normal week.

Will I receive any ongoing training once I start work?

Yes – as part of your initial training you will start the Care Certificate. This is largely completed on the induction course, but elements need to be completed within the client home environment – your manager will support you to do this. You will also be gradually trained further competencies based on clients’ needs, on top of your initial training. Mandatory annual training will also be required.

Will I have to work weekends and or bank holidays?

Yes – from time to time, including public holidays like Christmas. Many of our clients’ need 24/7 support, and this doesn’t stop over the holidays! We do make every attempt to design rotas as fairly as possible, so that this commitment is shared throughout the team.

What support will I get?

As well as support from your dedicated management team who will be available during normal working hours, there is also a 24-hour rota and out of hours contact number available for all our staff. Our offices are open 09:00 – 17:00, seven days a week and an on-call representative is also available during the night for emergencies.
